Advisory service in Trade Register matters and information about the Finnish Trade Register
The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) maintains the Finnish Trade Register. In the register, the PRH enters details of companies on the basis of notifications, applications and communications it receives. See the company forms entered in the Finnish Trade Register.

Details entered in the Finnish Trade Register are public
The Finnish Trade Register is public. Anyone is entitled to obtain information about the entries made in the Finnish Trade Register – also about the filed notifications and their enclosures. The details contained in the register are used when, for example, contracting parties check the background of companies.
The company details are published on the same day they are registered at the Finnish Trade Register.
When filing, note the following:
- As an enclosure, you can add an extract of meeting minutes showing the decision of the matters you are about file with the Finnish Trade Register. You do not have to submit the entire minutes.
- When filing on paper forms, use a specific personal data form for filing identification data of persons. Read further instructions for personal and address details.
- If you are filing details on a person with a Finnish personal identity code with the Finnish Trade Register, do not file the person’s home address.

In addition, Trade Register details are included in services provided by information service businesses.
Registration creates the right to operations
Examples of such situations where the registration in the Finnish Trade Register creates the right to operations:
- Limited liability companies and co-operatives come into existence when they are registered.
- A change made to the Articles of Association takes effect once it has been registered (for example the accounting period, company name, or municipality where the company is managed (i.e. domicile)).
- An increase or reduction of the share capital takes effect upon registration.
- Changes made to the limited liability company’s nominal value and accounting par value take effect upon registration.
- Registration gives protection to your company name in Finland.
What information is registered?
Normally, at least the following information is registered for each company type:
- Name of the company
- Place of registered office (domicile) of the company
- Line of business of the company
- Representative(s) for the company
- Address of the company

- Personal identity code
- Citizenship
