For registered associations
All registered associations must keep their details recorded in the Register of Associations up to date.
In general, the PRH enter details in the Register of Associations based on notifications. We register the notifications when they meet with the requirements defined in the Finnish Associations Act and there are no statutory limitations for registration. Read more about processing notifications in the Register of Associations at the PRH.
How to check the registered details
You can check the details entered in the register from the information service of the Register of Associations. Some of the details are available free of charge. However, in order to obtain for example the details on the persons entitled to sign for the association, you need to buy a register extract online. Please note that the extracts and rules are only available in Finnish and in Swedish.
How to correct or complete your notification
If the association’s notification is not eligible for registration as such, we inform the submitter of the notification of the possibility to complete and correct the notification and to submit additional information to the Register of Associations.
What do you file with the Register of Associations?
A registered association must file a notification of changes with the Register of Associations, when:
- the address or contact details of the association change;
- the chairperson or persons entitled to sign for the association change;
- the association’s rules change.
For example, changing the name of the association requires a change to the rules.
File a notification of changes also when you register the executive committee or change the details of the registered executive committee. Go to our instructions for changing the details of the executive committee.
To file a notification of changes, you can use either our online service or a paper form. If you file your notification using a paper form, the processing time will be longer than when filing online. Please note that both the online service and the forms are only available in Finnish and in Swedish.
If your association is no longer active and it has been decided to dissolve it, file a notification of termination. Go to our instructions on how to file the dissolution (termination) of an association.
