Large number of scam messages sent in the PRH’s name
As of spring 2024, scam email messages have been sent in the name of the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) to companies and associations. The messages ask recipients to update their contact information and other details and click a button, which leads to a fake website. Unfortunately, the scam messages and fake websites look very genuine.
The PRH has notified the information security authority of the scam messages and websites, informed its customers of them, and recommended security measures. Customer contacts indicate that scam messages are still being sent actively.
“We urge our customers to take special care when opening links because .fi domain names can also lead to fake websites,” states Tomi Moilanen, Chief Information Security Officer at the PRH.
