Accessibility statement: Prh.fi website
The Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) works constantly to improve the accessibility of the service. We will update the statement as accessibility problems are corrected.
The PRH is committed to making the prh.fi website accessible in accordance with the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services (laki digitaalisten palvelujen tarjoamisesta 306/2019Open link in a new tab, lag om tillhandahållande av digitala tjänster 306/2019Open link in a new tab).
How the accessibility statement was compiled
This accessibility statement was updated on 11 December 2023. The statement is based on an assessment carried out by a third party and the PRH.
How accessible this website is
The prh.fi website does not meet all the critical accessibility requirements (Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019).
Inaccessible content on the prh.fi website
The system used for the prh.fi website is Abako Oy’s Stato Sigma. Eficode Oy carried out assessments on 31 January 2019, 17 October 2022, 4 April 2023 and 26 October 2023 concerning the accessibility of the site.
The following content is not compliant with the requirements (according to the WCAG criteria):
- (WCAG 1.4.4) Some of the visual elements do not scale successfully when only the text size is increased by 200 per cent larger than usual. For instance, the texts in the header overlap slightly with each other and the search field. The texts and buttons in the page navigation are cut off. The texts in the middle bar on the front page go over the buttons. The same applies to the buttons in the timeline.
- (WCAG 1.4.3 and 1.4.11) In some images, the contrast between the text and the background is at the limit of the requirements when the background is a colour gradient.
- (WCAG 1.4.12) Some of the visual contents on the page break when the user applies custom text spacing settings. For instance, the button texts in the middle bar on the front page of the website break.
The PRH will correct when it revamps the website from 2024 to 2026.
Inaccessible content in files available through links on the prh.fi website
The PRH endeavours to make all attachments produced with office applications (Word, PDF, Excel and PowerPoint) accessible if the application can make the file accessible. The PRH will also check the accessibility of attachments produced by partner companies for the PRH.
The following content is not compliant with the requirements in all files (according to the WCAG criteria):
- (WCAG 1.3.1) The structure of the files saved as PDF files has not been determined as being in the PDF file format in all files.
- (WCAG 1.3.2) A correct reading sequence cannot be automatically determined in all files.
- (WCAG 1.4.3) The visual presentation of images of text has a contrast ratio of less than 4.5:1 in some files.
- (WCAG 2.1.1) Not all files are operable through a keyboard interface.
- (WCAG 2.4.2) Certain files do not have descriptive titles.
- (WCAG 2.4.3) The focus order has not been marked in all files.
- (WCAG 2.4.4) Certain files contain inactive links.
- (WCAG 2.4.6) Mandatory fields have not been marked in all files.
- (WCAG 4.1.1) Some of the PDF documents are not compliant with the PDF/UA standard.
The responsibility for the files and parts of a file produced by other parties lies with the parties in question.
