If needed, ask for postponement of registration
A utility model becomes public once it is registered.
By postponing the registration, you can prolong the time before the application becomes public. Postponement may be beneficial to you as the applicant if, for instance, you need more time to consider whether to continue the application process abroad.
You can postpone the registration of your utility model application for up to 15 months from the filing date or priority date of the application.
File your request for postponement within two months of the filing date and pay a postponement fee. See the postponement fee in our price list for utility models.
